This tour offers an introduction to sea kayaking and a unique view of one of Maine’s most delightful and active harbors. We will leave from the public landing on Eaton Avenue to paddle amongst tall-masted schooners and recreational boats. As we look for seabirds and harbor seals, you will enjoy magnificent views of Penobscot Bay. We will head toward the historic working lighthouse on Curtis Island and paddle around the island if weather permits. As we return to the harbor, the Camden Hills offer a dramatic and spectacular sight.
This tour features a scenic picnic lunch on Curtis Island, next to a historic lighthouse overlooking Penobscot Bay.
Our tours use mostly tandem kayaks. Experienced adult paddlers who prefer a single kayak may request it but the guide will make the final decision.
